Reflections – Body and Mind, Reflection

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

Hebrews 13:8 NKJV

““Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and  where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where  neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where  your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV

Sometimes, while internalizing God’s Word, my mind wonders to different angles.

While reading Hebrews, I started to think about all the things on this earth that have  come and gone in my life. I have had new jobs and said goodbye to old ones. I said  goodbye to my earthly father when he passed away. I thought about the friends I have  had come and go in my life. I think about my kids who were a huge role in my life when  they were little now wondering into their own lives. I see the world changing through  technology and changing mindsets from up and coming generations. I see things that  were fine back in the day that are no longer “cool.” As a baby boomer, my generation is  gradually fading away as time passes. Trends come and go as I progress through life.  Leaders come and go. My world here comes and goes as I slowly deteriorate with age.

Wow, almost everything changes at some point in someone’s life on this earth. So, what  remains stable? Who is always with you? Where are the rules of life stable and  predictable? What is immune to trends or changing thoughts? What is always in vogue?  The answer always leads to Christ. He doesn’t change. He doesn’t forsake you. His  commands remain consistent regardless of time. He is the one pillar you can always  count on.

Today, think about what’s never changing because it’s that that you can always lean on  and should be the most important thing in your life.
