Caution, Fragile. – Fragile

“This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”

I have worked with the Marginalized for over 30 years now with wide ranges of disability issues. One common thread that repeatedly jumps to top of mind is how fragile we human beings are. I literally have worked with folks who went from being an A game doctor or lawyer to wheel chair bound with brain injuries in a heartbeat. I have worked with multi-millionaires, high powered business people who now are completely dependent on others feeding and taking of them. It’s amazing that all it takes from being able to disabled is a sudden accident or health concern.

We are all very fragile and that’s why we need to lean on the strength of Christ. He holds you up when you are down. He loves you regardless of your health or (lack of) wealth and family. He prepares a place for you where suffering and sickness is gone (John 14:2). You are never alone. Finish the race with Him regardless of your trials and tribulations (2 Timothy 4:7).

When we think about how fragile we are, it solidifies why a relationship with Christ is so important. It is from His strength where we garner ours no matter our situation. That’s why faith is crucial for all of us.

Father,

Thank you for being there with me no matter what happens. You are the bedrock to my life. My faith in you never waivers because I know you are strong and I am weak in need of your support. When I can’t get up, your strong hand pulls me up. If I become ill, you will get me through it here or enroute to heaven. When I am alone, you are there to comfort and love me. I trust you. I love you and I look forward to seeing you one day. In Jesus name.

Amen.
